Five Favourites (February)

 Wow check out that alliteration in the title! In life I am always running late so of course my blog is the same, but I decided to put up my Feb favourites anyway and hope that I'll be more organised for March (yeah right). February for me was a little bit of a skin nightmare month as I was still breaking in the clarisonic and also went off the pill (too much information?). As everyone knows the clarisonic brings with it a purge-fest (yum) and takes a lot of faith to keep using it. So my skin was not only dry from Glasgow weather but also a lovely spotty mess.

Trilogy Organic Rosehip oil: I picked this up from Boots in November when the weather was starting to get colder. I've been interested in trying a facial oil for a while and this one was a lot cheaper than some of the ones I was interested in (£16.50 for 20ml). I use this at night when I feel my skin could do with a bit of nourishment, taking a few drops in the palm of my hand and working it into the skin. I give myself a bit of a snazzy face massage and it leaves my skin glowing and it makes a difference to my normally dry skin.

No.7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream (Normal/dry): When my Embryolisse ran out I couldn't be arsed paying the ridiculous online prices for it and decided to try something new. No.7 recently launched a load of new "Beautiful Skin" products (or just re-branded old ones) and I thought I'd try one. I bought this with one of those £5 off vouchers so it was £7.50 (does anyone actually pay full price for no.7?). It is a pretty nice day cream, very moisturising and leaves a dewy finish so I usually let it settle for a while. It also has SPF 15 which I like as not all of my foundations have SPF. Overall, a nice refreshing moisturiser that gives a more radiant appearance to the skin and works well under make-up.





Rimmel Powder Blush (Pink Rose): I have had this blusher for AGES, probably much longer than is recommended. I salvaged it from the bottom drawer (make-up graveyard) after Megan talked it about it on YouTube. It was hard to capture the true colour with my camera, it is a dusty pink colour with slight shimmer in it. It looks great on my very fair skin and I think it works well for bringing out my cheekbones.  I've read reviews complaining about the longevity but I think for £3.99 it's pretty good and it's so small you could always put it in your bag if you felt the need to top-up.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo: Remember I mentioned all those pesky spots? Well this has been helping a lot. Every other night I put this all over my face, leave it for a while and then put on some night cream. The spots didn't seem to last as long and it seems to help with those annoying red marks they leave behind. I got this in Boots on one of those 2 for £15 deals that La Roche-Posay have so I also got a face wash  (normally retails at £13). Overall I'm really happy with this product and it is not as harsh as some of the things I have ashamedly used in the past.


Stila illuminating tinted moisturiser (Shade 01): I bought this on cheapsmells ages ago for £4.95 and haven't got around to properly using it since my skin still isn't great. "Sarah, why the f*&^ is this in your Feb favourites if you haven't used it?!" I hear you ask. Well, I take a tiny amount and put it on the tops of my cheekbones and anywhere else I need an extra bit of ~glow~. After a long day at Uni if I'm heading out for dinner I'll put a little on to refresh my (crusty) make-up.

 Went into Zara yesterday for a quick browse (read: DROOL) and I loved everything, even a leather jacket which isn't usually my thing. I'm really impressed with their Spring range, the colours and styles are beautiful and simple. Here's a few shirts/collared items I eyed up when I was there. I love the loose fit of the polka dot shirt, and the mint colour of the last shirt especially.

Decided to throw on some polka dots today, inspired by Clothes Encounters. Please excuse the cheesy grin, I am TRYING desperately to not feel massively awkward getting my photo taken but I think I still need a lot of practice.

Last weekend

WOW I've not blogged in ages! Where has the time gone?

Last weekend I flew down to Brighton to surprise my sister for her birthday. It was bloody hilarious seeing her face as she came home from work and we were all sitting on the stairs in the dark. I started tearing up like a goon cause I was so happy to see her (what am I like?!). It was a great night, I drank a litttttle bit too much and was suffering a bit the next day. Strawberry milkshakes on the beach was the perfect hangover cure and the weather all weekend was amazing.

I'm hoping to blog a lot more now that my Masters assignments aren't quite as full-on. I'd love to do some recipes/cooking things if you guys are interested? Let me know :)

One of my friends works at a gallery and invited me along to an exhibition they were having. So i pictured a gorgeous gallery with people dressed up. I hadn't a clue what people wore and thought this outfit would be alright. Turns out the place was not what I imagined (it was a dive) and it was so freezing cold that I didn't take off my coat all night. Unfortunately it was the kind of art that I will never understand. The key 'piece' of the night was a pile of plywood...

Ok so I'm a little late with this as it's really winter now but this is my typical cold weather outfit. I bought this coat two years ago from H&M and I still really love it. I've always loved fur collars and I'll probably end up buying that £12 fur piece from H&M eventually!

A while ago I mentioned I was starting a no shopping ban which I'm doing for clothes and cosmetics (yikes!). I'm hoping that i will rediscover things in my wardrobe that I haven't worn in ages and use up all the beauty products I have (anyone else have 5 foundations on the go?). On a day where I'm feeling particularly uninspired I find myself glancing towards my boyfriends side of the wardrobe and I particularly love this grey tee. Yes it's a bit big on me but I like that rolled up sleeves look and the material is so soft. 

Does anyone else borrow their boyfriend's clothes or find themselves glancing in the mens section of stores?

I've had these images saved for a while and I decided to share them with you. I love looking at interior blogs and I find these images inspiring. I would love to be able to just relax and nap in any one of those rooms! Unfortunately my room is a complete uninspiring mess at the minute (with floordrobe and all!). My goal is to make it a more beautiful, serene place and I'll post pictures if I ever achieve this (bearing in mind I live with a boy..).

Does anyone else like looking at interior design images? Just me? 

Penny Lane

Just watched "Almost Famous" which is one of my favourite movies. I know everyone says this but Kate Hudson looks amazing in this movie, the costumes are just so perfect. I have a coat that I bought from a charity shop that I couldn't resist because it reminded me of THAT coat. I'll have to do an OOTD when my mum sends it over.
